The miracle of birth is quite possibly the single most beautiful and magical thing the universe has to offer. It’s also a body wrecking suffrage. There’s no denying that parenthood is a beautiful thing and you love your children more than anything, but there’s also no denying that pregnancy will do horrible (beautiful) things to your body. It can be difficult to pick up where you left off after having a child, but all is not lost, it’s not as hard as you might think to get your body back to its former glory.

Here’s how.

It all comes down to developing and sticking to a workout routine. What kind of routine you need varies from person to person, as we all have different ideas of what we want from our bodies, but there are some universal truths to consider, of course. There endless articles, videos, and more that can point you in the right direction. Once you find a routine that works for you, you have to stick with it.

It can be difficult to stick to your routine. After all, working out is the hardest thing most of us do from day to day. It’s worth trying to reward yourself for adhering to your regimen. In the case of dieting, there’s the time honored “cheat day” where in you can eat whatever you want without worrying about your dietary restrictions. For working out, however, a suitable reward is less obvious, but you just have to get creative and really reinforce your newly developed habit.
Remember to set smaller goals on the path to your primary goal. For example, when it comes to weight loss, you can set the goal of losing 10 pounds by the end of the month. When it comes to working out, your goal can simply be doing more each day than you did the day before. Remember, of course, to dress for your workout. Wearing the right clothes makes all the difference in the world, and Athleta can provide great clothing for all your athletic needs, and then some.

Top Nursery Decorating Ideas

Nursery theme

There will come a time when you need to think about decorating your child’s nursery. If this is your first child then you might not know where to start – and who could blame you?

With so many different ideas available, the most difficult part will be narrowing down your options. Here are some great ideas to get you started with decorating the nursery.

Choose a theme

A good way to give your child’s nursery a well-rounded look is to pick a theme. This will help dictate the colour scheme and other items you might need in the space.

But what theme should you choose? This can be tough if you don’t know whether you’re having a boy or girl – but thankfully there are plenty of unisex themes to consider.

You might want to think about including animals – these can be bright, colourful and even educational for your little one. Alternatively, go for a sky theme that will relax them whenever bedtime comes around.

Another idea is to choose a classic children’s character and build the theme around it. Winnie the Pooh and Beatrix Potter are ones that have stood the test of time.

Pick colours carefully

There has been all sorts of research into people’s reactions to colours – muted tones are usually recommended in sleeping spaces to avoid the mind becoming overactive.

Bear this in mind when you select the colour scheme for your nursery – by all means make it bright and cheerful, but make sure your little one is still able to get the shuteye they need!

Creating a functional space
Once you have decided on the theme, colour scheme and other decorative elements of your children’s nursery, it’s time to get practical!

After all, the space will be used not only by used when your child sleeps, but also as a room for getting them dressed in the morning, playing and all manner of other activities. Storage is therefore a must, so make sure you include plenty of drawers, cupboards and surfaces to keep all your items to one side.

Vertbaudet has a range of items to help keep your child’s nursery fun yet functional.

It might be a good idea to make sure there are defined spaces within the nursery. Keep an area set aside for play, one for sleeping and one for changing – feel free to add more if you have the room!

Tips for moms-to-be: Staying comfortable under the sun

We’re often told that we glow during pregnancy, but during the summer months when the sun’s at its hottest, it’s possible to glow just a little too much if you don’t get your outfit right. Being comfortable is paramount when you have the extra weight of a bump to carry around, but that doesn’t mean sacrificing on style completely. Here are three top tips for dressing well and staying cool if you are pregnant:

1)      Seek out fabrics that are lightweight and breathable, this may mean investigating labels or reading the product breakdown online. Lots of maternity wear manufacturers produce ranges in cloths such as organic cotton and linen that won’t weigh you down and have the added bonus of being easy to wash. Look out for crinkled styles that you don’t need to iron as well, after all, who wants to be doing housework in the heat? Colour-wise think cool too – avoid black and dark blues and instead pick up pretty pastels.

2)      Look for clothes that are adaptable – think beyond elastic waists and seek out jeans or trousers with buttons to ‘let out’ as you grow or need more space and air. This type of clothing means you can still wear a smart tailored look rather than feeling like you are just covering up in something shapeless – a common problem with maternity wear.

3)      Look for support – this might mean padding in your sandals or thicker bra straps to keep your expanding bosom in place as you need to think practical as well as pretty. Sometimes bigger buttons can make all the difference when you are looking for substance as well as style. Swap your lingerie for maternity lingerie and you’ll be surprised at the range of feminine choices available offering extra support and comfort.
